Celebrating the timeless artistry of one of music’s greatest legends, Grammy-winning guitarist, vocalist, and producer John Pizzarelli presents Dear Mr. Bennett, a heartfelt tribute to the extraordinary career and enduring legacy of Tony Bennett. Through elegant arrangements, masterful musicianship, and a deep personal connection, Pizzarelli honors the songs that defined Bennett’s remarkable seven-decade career while bringing his own signature jazz style to these beloved classics.
The tribute is especially meaningful for Pizzarelli, whose relationship with Bennett’s music runs deep. His father, legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, frequently performed alongside Bennett, and John later had the opportunity to share the stage with the iconic singer himself. Their mutual admiration grew over the years, making Dear Mr. Bennett both a celebration of a musical hero and a personal tribute to a cherished friend.
Joined by his trio featuring bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson, Pizzarelli brings fresh energy and sophistication to favorites from the Great American Songbook, including songs made famous by Bennett such as “The Best Is Yet to Come,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” The performance captures the warmth, swing, and timeless elegance that made Bennett an international icon.
Renowned for his ability to bridge generations through jazz, Pizzarelli has spent his career revitalizing classic standards while celebrating the artists and composers who shaped American music. Dear Mr. Bennett is a joyful evening of unforgettable songs, remarkable storytelling, and a fitting tribute to one of the most beloved voices in music history.
