In 1969, yet another band of four talented English musicians arrived in New York and took the
United States by storm. Named after an 18-century English agricultural engineer who helped
improve the seed drill, the band Jethro Tull would go on to have more than 65 million in record
sales and attract a huge following of loyal fans. At the center of Tull’s unique sound was
guitarist Martin Barre, renowned for his formidable mastery of historic riffs, power chords and
soaring melodic solos.

Barre was Jethro Tull’s guitarist for more than 43 years, earning a high level of respect and
recognition among his peers and fans alike. For his work on the album Aqualung, his solos were
rated 25 th  best solo ever in the United States and 20 th  in the United Kingdom and the album was
named by Rolling Stone among the Top 500 Albums of All Time. His playing on the album Crest
of a Knave earned a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or

Instrumental in 1989. The band won eleven Gold and five Platinum albums in the course of its
half-century career.

In addition to his work with Jethro Tull, Martin Barre has worked with top artists, including Paul
McCartney, Phil Collins, Joe Bonamassa, and Chris Thompson, and has shared the stage with
such legends as Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

Now Barre has put together a special tour with his band to honor Jethro Tull’s 50 th  anniversary,
playing the classic music from the Tull canon. He is dedicated to giving fans and new listeners
the chance to hear tracks that have not been performed for many years. The show will
celebrate the musical journey of Jethro Tull throughout the decades with songs from legendary
albums that include Thick as a Brick, Aqualung, Stand Up, Songs from the Wood, A Passion Play,
Heavy Horses and more. He will be bringing a spectacular show with his touring band, Dan Crisp
on lead vocals, Alan Thompson on bass, and Terl Bryant on drums.

In a review of a January 2022 concert, writer Nick Tate said, “From start to finish, the show
made clear that at 75, Barre shows no signs of slowing down. He is not simply reprising the
music of long-passed glory days. With every tour, he seems to have more energy and an
endless supply of inventive ideas that give even the oldest tracks in the Tull canon a fresh new
spin.  More than five decades after joining Tull, Barre has clearly found a new way forward that
may be rooted in the past but has more in common with that old train that won’t stop going
forward … (because there’s) no way to slow down.”
For Martin Barre, to whom everything old can be something new and something new is just
looking forward, there is no reason to slow down. None at all.
